Happy New Year!!!

Daisy and I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!!! We hope 2009 is an amazing year for everyone!

Daisy is feeling much better. She is a little sad from having to stay in her crate so much. But, her leg looks great! We removed her stitches yesterday. The incisions are healing very nicely. She is beginning to put more and more weight on her leg when she walks. The vet has allowed her to go on very short, slow walks that can increase as she feels up to it.

On Christmas Day the weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm. We were able to spend some time outside in the sunshine and Daisy LOVED it!

I will schedule Daisy's next appointment at UT Knoxville for mid to late January. If I understood the vet correctly we will take her for a check up and x-ray of her right leg. Assuming it is healing the way it should, they will do surgery on her left leg the following day.

We really have learned so much from Daisy through this experience. She has shown us how fortunate we are and how much we take for granted. What amazes me most is that despite her painful past, she shows nothing but love and affection to everyone she meets. My New Year's resolution is to try to learn from Daisy and face the world with more compassion and forgiveness.

We wish you all the best in 2009 and always!
