Sweet Daisy

The past few weeks have been very difficult for Daisy. I'm sure it would be difficult for any dog to be confined to a crate during recovery from surgery. But, I can't help but feel especially bad for Daisy because she is only a year old. She should be running and playing like other puppies. I get so angry when I think about what she has gone through and what she will go through just to reach a normal place in life. But, then I look at her and she seems to smile at me with her sweet eyes. Maybe she is here to teach me to look at the positives in life rather than focus on the negatives.

Daisy seems to have no memory of what her life was like before. She seems to enjoy every moment - good and bad. No one will ever really know Daisy's story - not what she lived in day to day. But, I believe that's how she would want it. I don't believe Daisy would want anyone to feel sorry for her or angry for anything in her past. She wants to move forward and forget her past. We will help her do that.

The first week in February will mark two months since the surgery on her right leg. The orthopedic surgeon wanted to wait a couple of months between surgeries to allow her right leg time to heal. She will return to UT on Monday, February 2, for x-rays and a checkup. If all is well and her right leg is healing the way it should, she will stay overnight and have the second surgery the following day. Please send Daisy all the good thoughts and prayers you can! We want this sweet girl to have both surgeries in her past and be able to run and play by Spring or Summer 2009!

I do so hope that Daisy's leg will be healed enough in February so she can get the other one operated on and be done with it. I really want her to be able to run and play by the time the warm weather comes again.

We hope that everything will be healed by summer. Daisy definitely needs this behind her!
